Love is patient.....am I?

Ever since I married this man...he has been building something, fixing something or reading about building or fixing.

He tore down and rebuilt his first car at 13 and it ran! He amazes me how patient he is ......trying to figure out why something doesn't work...and most times get's it fixed. He even got my tiller fixed!!! We talked about patience in church this morning.......


We are still studying 1 Corinthians in morning worship. Our text this morning was chapter 13, verses 4-8: "Love is patient (with people) Love is kind(does what is helpful and beneficial) and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,(Love forgives and forgets...does not keep track!) does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; ..........bears all things, (overlooks failures) believes all things, hopes all things, endures (willing to stay with it/ perseveres) all things;(in all things with all people) ..............love never fails"

1 Thessalonians 5:14-15: "We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone. (ouch!) See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all peoples.

Romans 2:4-5 tells us: "Do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgement of God"

and 2 Peter 3:9-14 says: "The Lord is slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient towards you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Wow...(thunking my palm to my forehead)... I shouldda had a 1 Cor. 13:4a!
Why in the world is patience so hard? We want the quickfix... for people to see exactly what we are talking about and to understand perfectly. Only patience leads to repentance...the patience that comes from God. He is so patient ...while we are stubborn and hard hearted and unrepentant.


There is that heart stuff again. I thought I loved hearts, but I am coming to find out that they can sure cause a lot of trouble............ I am a little afraid to pray for patience because God always has a way of teaching us with trials.........count it all joy, because love never fails!
