The past couple of weeks I have been re-reading "God's Garden of Grace" by Elizabeth George. The book is about---growing in the fruit of the spirit." The book takes a look at the manifestations of the Spirit--love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gendleness, and self-control.
The chapter I read this morning discusses "planning for kindness". The challenge is to cultivate kindness by praying for those who bring you pain or you just do not care to be around, and going out of my way to do or show acts of kindness to one person for a month.
It got me to thinking.....I wonder to how many people.....I AM THAT PERSON...? How many people would choose me as the one that brings them pain or who they would just least want to be around right now.
Wow....as I pray for my person...I will also be praying for those-- that I am that person to them, and pray that God would reveal to me what in my life causes that problem for them.
Her challenge also is to look at my own home and make an effort to live out God's command to be kind to others....what could we do to make their lives easier? .....in these busy days..that would not be difficult at all to find ways to help!! ....I know for one, it is the little things, like making sure the doors are all locked before I leave or that all the lights got shut off...or not to forget the pivots I am supposed to be watcing while hubby is out working!!.... =)
