Walk Around the Farm

I took a walk around the farm this evening while I was putting fuel in the tank in the back of the pick-up. Grandpa will take it out to the irrigation engine on the Storm 80 when he gets back from loading the semi with beans. He will haul them to the elevator in the morning.

It is so quiet and green....a lot greener than you would think it would be for only having 1.45" of rain the whole month of June and July up to the beautiful rain we recieved a couple of days ago.

Some of these things really stir my memory. All of these horse shoes were on a horse at one time. These farms were farmed with horses and the stories we listened to from Great Great Grandpa seem like yesterday .......and seem like a hundred years ago.

He talked about the time they were mowing with a team and they came upon a bee hive and the horses were getting stung and ran.... He had so many stories and we didn't write them down...we didn't tape his voice... I wish we would have....

Xander and Will...do you know what these round things are?? I can still see one of you at one end and one at the other....sending your secret messages .....long distance.... =)

The summer flowers are blooming and the corn looks so beautiful. It is so thick you would have such a hard time walking through it....and there are two good ears on so many of the stalks...

Grandpa and I went down and moved the auger from the fat corn bin to the tall skinny bean bin...

Grandpa is looking to see if the pivot is still running on the May's North farm. He gets tired of driving around to check everything, but things can happen....check below for entry a few days ago..........

ack!! I loveloveLOVE a few of these shots! The one with the dark tree in the center, the one with a giant drooping tree on the right and a silo on the left. I like the bicycles too. :)

Did I inspire you a bit, aunt? :D I would love it if I did. Yay for 'artsy' pictures.

I was mulling over the idea of putting some of my better shots in the state fair, but I got one photographer-person to comment on them (in this art community-place on LiveJournal), and she said most of mine weren't clear enough; ie, out of focus. She thought the red door one was best. *shrug*

Anyway, I'm sure you could! (-enter some pictures in the fair.) Gosh, how could you ever choose, with all your fabulous people shots....
