Now what do those two things have in common?... I stayed up until 3 am yesterday trying to get the rest of my Christmas cards printed so I can get them sent. ....and.......
While we were in CA, some friends that were with us met an old classmate for lunch. Rick is a Dr. and when he saw the brace on my right hand, (for tendonitus in my right elbow) he proceded to ask what it was for and after asking many questions and having me do different things with my left arm, he finally asked. What did the MRI show? I told him I never had one. He was pretty shocked and asked why not?? I was content with the frozen shoulder diagnosis, as was my Dr. and my therapist and have been pleased with the progress we have made so far.
Rick concluded the "examination" with the statement... "I'll bet you round-trip tickets from CA to NE that you have at least a partial tear in your rotator cuff". Well, that kept everyone the rest of the trip saying...."you are going to get an MRI to get that checked out, aren't you? You do have insurance and have already met your deductable ...right?"
Ok...so I figured I would give the clinic a call and see what they said. The nurse called back and had an appointement set up for the very next day!!
At any rate, it was very easy...just lay down and they shove you in a tunnel and tell you to lay extremely still for a bit over a half hour. It was super noisy, but I actually think I dozed off a couple of times......maybe because I was up until 3 am working on Christmas cards....which I took along and worked on while I waited for my MRI. I don't know how many times the tech said. "Ok now..try a little harder to hold still.. it is kind of fuzzy." I felt like I was barely breathing ..trying to hold still, but I guess your muscles move quite a bit, even then. Should find out Friday or so if I can collect my round trip tickets from Rick, or if I owe him $17 (since I do have insurance) for his "house call". =) (we have been kidding back and forth about this...)
I should have all my cards in the mail today...so yours should be coming if you are one of the around 70 on my list! =) Hope you get it by Christmas!
