Memory Lane.....
Seeing the pages of the grand children's excitement from these first days of school made me think about this photo. I am thinking it was Kristin's first day of kindergarten because she was carrying a blanket for naptime (Brian's "B") =)
Get a load of those short shorts you guys! I don't know...do you think this date would be right? Brian, you got glasses right before you went into the second grade, didn't you? You all look so cute... =)

Memory Lane....
Left to right top: Sandy B., Karen, Scott, Steve J, Chuck, Kathy, Steve, Me, Michael
Bottom : Kristin, June, Virgil, Anna, Edward, Andy and Brian (yes, we now have another Anna!! ) These grandparents were in the house that we now live in. They moved here March 1 of 1933 and we in March 1, 1988.
This photo was taken at Steve and Sue's in the early 80's when the folks still lived on the farm. It was the last family photos before Grandma Frahm passed away. The kids would be just about the age Kristin's are now. Wow..brothers and sisters...we haven't changed a bit, have we? HA! =)

The Nest Emptying...Old Family Photos..

I am switching out some of my 8x10 layouts in my photo screen and as I was looking in the album that I put them in after they spend their time in the screen, I came across these old family photos.
We all look so young here and I am thankful that my nest emptied slowly ...
....and I am also thankful that we still have Michael here to keep us thoroughly entertained... =)
I gave the guys haircuts tonight and Michael didn't think he needed one just yet. I told him he needs to look nice for his jobs.............he told me he looks nice enough... =)

We did the haircuts anyway. I am glad he doesn't realize that if he really didn't want to do something .....there is probably not a whole lot I could do about it... =)
He is a lot of fun, and is still very obedient....he might walk off grumbling about it under his breath....but he always gets his chores done and in the end, does what we ask of him...
Steve has been working in the shop for days on the planter. We are very close to starting. The ground temperature is still a little too cold and the soil a bit to wet yet, but maybe by the end of the week.

.......And I just remembered as I was grabbing those family photos that I never did post a photo of the cookies that Alison helped me decorate! I did not want to reveal them before the wedding rehearsal, so I'll just post them here... They were so fun to decorate! =)

Memories of Christmas Past....

I also remember getting "care" packages of groceries delivered to our door..a knock and the gift giver had dissapeared. They can never know how welcomed those groceries were and again, how embarrased my mom was to be the receiver of such kindness. We only had one or two Christmases that I remember there were no gifts. Grandpa and Grandma helped above and beyond what they could afford to help us.
I also remember the yearly search for the gifts that there might be. I only remember one year that they were not found. (I think I might have wrote of this seasonal game in an earlier post). On different years the gifts had been found in the trunk of the car, in most every nook of each closet in the house and even in the attic. The year we could not find them, they were hidden in the bottom of the toy chest...under all the old toys. That was so clever!
I do not feel sad from these events and am very thankful that it taught me how to live with little and appreciate the abundance that the Lord has blessed me with and the family He granted that little girl who still loves Christmas. These gifts that were given by thoughtful givers were precious to me as a child. The most important gift is not the one that is under the tree, or ones those give to one another, but the one that God gave at Christmas.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believes in Him, would not perish, but would have eternal life." John 3:16
Bill read this poem to us in Sunday School this morning:
Who art Thou.. precious little babe? Nestled in the hay??
God I am, come to earth this day.
Why didsn't Thou come, sweet little babe nestled in the hay?
To die, I came, the price of sin to pay.
Who's sin.. tender little babe.. nestled in the hay?
Yours it was.. that brought Me down today..
Why didsn't Thou come, sweet little babe nestled in the hay?
To die, I came, the price of sin to pay.
Who's sin.. tender little babe.. nestled in the hay?
Yours it was.. that brought Me down today..
Rejoice in what God has done for us! Have a Blessed Christmas!

More Memory Lane...Christmas Past

What is your guess kids? You might remember by glasses or suits?
Ok..well that is probably it for a few days unless I get on from someone else's computer.
I am not taking my laptop along. Sure wish the Nebraska Volleyball girls would have made it to finals, but we will cheer on California and enjoy the time together! =)

Memory Lane......

You are right, Kris. We are in Branson. I'm guessing about 10 years ago. It is fun to look back and remember our "young" versions of us! The kids never seem to age much after this to me. When we got a video of our family given to us last year about this time, it sent me right back to that time. I felt like I was a ghost right back in that room with those goofball kids and all the sillyness that went on. I have sooooo many photos to scan and share with you guys! =)
