Though I think brother Steve is on his last field and is not truly finished...my Steve found his last acre to plant yesterday about 2pm! That is always a good feeling! We were putting the tractor and planted in the shed at about 9 pm last night......
I even finished planting my wimpy garden yesterday! A rabbit found my tomato plants before I had them properly caged, so I will be stopping for 4 more tomato plants this morning when I take Michael to work. I used to have such a full, big garden. We do have sweet corn (planted along the fence on the edge of the corn field), onions, cucumbers, green beans and tomatoes...slicers and for canning, and the little grape ones to just snack on and for salad. I have been eating asparagus for about 2 weeks. It comes up year after year. I just go pick about a dozen and eat them fresh, as Michael only likes them smothered with cheese and hubby, who is on coumid.in, is very limited to vitamin K ...which asparagus is very high in. That is also the reason I don't plant my variety of lettuces anymore. It is no fun eating that by myself. Now I order salad when we go out or just by the little bags at the store...and they do not even compare to fresh picked lettuce with fresh cucumbers and tomatoes!
My boss had one of my co-workers call me day before yesterday wondering if I would stop yesterday and plant the planters at work. "What is your budget?" I asked with a smile when I got there. ......"Uh....call the other Sandi....she usually plants them..." I did, and she has always planted petunias in them. That was my choice as well, as they are only seen by us and those working out on the machines by the back wall. There was not a big variety to pick from in that little town, but for just under $20, I got the planters planted, and they look springy and cheerful now. =) I came home and planted most of my pots around the outside of the house, too. I still need to get the planter in front of the garage planted, and the annuals in the east flower bed, and I'm calling it good for this year.
Time to get Michael stirring for the morning. I hope hubby sleeps in...we have been running around from 5 am on...the last couple of days trying to get tractors and pickups moved to the fields so he can get done planting. I hear thunder rumbling outside the window. Wow..a nice inch of rain would be a wonderful way to end the week! =)

Yahoo! A good feeling to close that big project for the year. And a gorgeous rain...I'm assuming you got some of this Lincoln storm we've been having.
Yeah! That sure seemed to go quick, but I wasn't with you on the day to day. I'm sure dad is driving SLLLLLOOOOWWLLLY by the fields these days to watch those little greenies coming up his rows now. Oh how I remember that in late spring/early summer! :)
What a blessing indeed! How precious it is to wait upon the Lord (for the little seedlings to pop!) What a gift the rain is in it's proper time! Isn't it so true that the rain and the sun are equally important in a growing season? I think about that a lot lately!
