Neighborhood Christmas Coffee

What a beautiful morning for a Christmas Coffee! The air was crisp and cold and the sun was shining bright..and no ice storm this year! We had a record attendance of 20 beautiful neighbors and friends this year! It was fun to pull out the extra folding tables and chairs that were on hand and fill up the dining room! It is always fun to see who comes through the door. We had six first timers this morning. Two were my sweet co-workers, Alison and Carie, and the other four were neighbors who live within a couple of miles and were able to attend this year.
We started the morning gathering in the living room and then going through the brunch line. I'll have to pop in some photos of the food when I get them from my mom-in-law. She was much better with her camera than I was for this event! These photos were after almost everyone got seated and we had a nice visit while we ate....and went around the table to introduce ourselves and tell where we lived from here and how they know me (since some were co-workers and not neighbors...and a couple WERE neighbors who moved to town, but I still invite them out =). I then had games, of course! We played Christmas Bingo and kept the game going until all the bingo prizes were handed out. I then had a Christmas quiz that the answers were found in scripture. You might be amazed at how many things are tradition and not actually scripture based, just like a lot of our church traditions have been added along the way and are not really scripturally based. I had a little gift for each lady to take home and will tuck the memories of the fun moring away. =)

These were my little afternoon guests while mommy was on a fun get-away with some friends today, and daddy and crampaw when to town on a little business. Cami and Calvin are so fun and played great together!

Oops..these photos got a little mixed up, but in the evening, Michael had his work Christmas at a great bbq place near us. They are so good to him there. A couple of the gals brought presents just for Michael, because it was the 'pick a gift or take one from someone else'. He could have 'stole' a light up Snoopy, but his curiosity got the best of him and he had to grab an unopened present. It was mind boggle games (that you take apart bent metal puzzles), but he then decided he sure wished he had taken that cool snoopy!! Such is life..he got a neat Tigger and a John.Deere calender that he was very happy to bring home and we all came home full....and tired! =)

Gift from some co-workers...

Gathering around for the gift opening....

Oh, I remember last years Christmas coffee getting cancelled..and wasn't it around then, Michael had a seizure? There has been many blessings this past year and we look forward to the many that are on their way in 2009! Praying for your gals who attended the Christmas coffee! I'm sure they were blessed!

What a wonderful turn out for your Christmas coffee!! I just came across the Christmas story I shared last year at mine -- remember that? Always good to be reminded of the reason for the season!
