More Tomatoes...

I just packed the last of 12 more quarts of tomatoes. That will make 38 quarts on my shelf in the basement...all ready for soups and chili for the cooler days coming.

I have been working some hours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday the past couple of weeks, so trying to get the normal household things and these extras done on my days off. I have been given an extra project at work of going through some of the files to make sure some things are up to date, so I can put in as many extra hours on that as I want to. I got the active files done yesterday, and now starting on the graveyard files....that could take a while, as I only did this when it slowed before lunch and I worked through lunch yesderday and a little while after, until I was needed back out on the floor.

I picked up a couple of samples of paint that are right above my "Tyler-Taupe" on the sample. I think I will pick up a couple of gallons next week. I have decided on the top one. Now to get everything off the walls and get them wiped down and ready to paint. The hardest part is when I get to the north wall and the west wall in the dining room. The wall unit needs to be cleaned out and laid on it's 'face' and I need to clean everything out of the hutch and get it pulled out away from the wall so I can paint behind each. (The main reason I have procrastinated this job so long...).

....back out to get the last six jars out of the canner.....

That's music to my ears!! The 38 qts. of tomatoes..not the paint! Suprised??

I'm up early tomorrow to get my first 7 qts. canned...just waiting on the rest to get red! Getting LOTS of rain this week, so that's good for them! NOW we need sunshine to ripen them!

I cannot remember what that first color is. I THINK my bedroom is painted the color right above it...and I wasn't too impressed with it. Just kinda blah to me. The top one might just be the touch of color you long for! Same hues..but my bedroom has different light than my family room, so that makes ALL the diference in the world. Wish I were there to help you...we could knock that bookcase down in one fell swoop! :) OF course, your arm might hurt again and my back would be out of whack, but then we could hobble over to the PT joint and get all fixed up!

Look forward to seeing pictures!

It will be a shade lighter than your bedroom. I know..I am a little worried that it might be a little blah after the kitchen perk up, but I do like it with the carpet. It is not as 'white' as what I have though. It would be fun to have you here!!! Glad you're getting some rain..and some tomatoes put up!! So good to have stuff in the freezer and on the shelves as fall approaches. I always loved going down and seeing all that color in the jars. Still plan to can some peaches and pears. I miss my green beans on the shelf, but they did terrible this year!!

SO DID OURS! {green beans that is} I was sooo disappointed b/c those and tomatoes are really all I care about. Didn't can ONE JAR of green beans! Just ate em!

I am doing 7 qts. of tomatoes right now. Hoping to get a few canners full...b/c we DO eat those all winter long! Ally and I might go peach pickin' tomorrow if we can get to it. Doesn't take long, just an hour drive or so...if it's nice, it'll be a great outing for Kik's.

Aw...thinking of you and those tomatoes reminds me of those "older woman teaching the younger woman" days we spent together, and makes me miss you!!!! I had NO idea what it meant to blanch a tomato! :) And I still make the Chicken Macaroni for my family that we "talked" over, too. Good memories, great fellowship!
